The new cru: Barbaresco Cottà 2015

Cottà is a historic Barbaresco cru and one of the denomination’s early single-vineyard zones. Albino Rocca’s small parcel lies halfway up a south-west slope beside the historic Gepin vineyard and opposite Ronchi. Most vines exceed 50 years of age, and the parcel yields no more than 15 hl. Its clay-marl soil is associated with a rich, firm and robust expression of Nebbiolo. In 2015, the family decided to isolate the parcel as a further exploration of Barbaresco’s territorial diversity. The wine was matured in German and Austrian Stockinger oak, and production was limited to 2,000 bottles.
