Allegrini presents Grola: the rebellious wine returns as an ambassador for Valpolicella Classica
Grola returned under a shorter name and re-entered the Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC designation. Francesco Allegrini presented the project as a tribute to Franco, who had begun imagining the change, and as a renewed statement of Valpolicella identity. The blend centres on Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella.
The redesign introduced a 420 g bottle, a 100% cotton label, FSC-certified packaging, a low-impact Derma capsule and a closure certified to reduce TCA risk. A hand-rendered hill and a raven—linked to the local story that a raven transformed the hill’s grapes into Corvina—became the new visual emblems.
The relaunch began at Vinitaly from 6–9 April 2025, followed by a thirteen-stop Italian tour through restaurants and gourmet trattorias from May through October. Hangar Design Group developed the new visual identity.
