La Poja in Venice – a milestone in our history
The Venice event followed an earlier London tasting and formed the second stage of an international La Poja programme. Participants visited the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and attended a dinner at Palazzina Grassi, followed by a blind tasting at Palazzo Nani led by Cristina Mercuri DipWSET.
Seven vintages—1997, 2001, 2006, 2009, 2013, 2016 and 2018—were tasted. The family revisited Giovanni Allegrini’s 1979 purchase of the plateau at 320 m and his decision to establish a Corvina cru on its white limestone soils. La Poja subsequently became one of Allegrini’s two labels distributed through La Place de Bordeaux and reached more than 50 countries despite limited production.
