University of Verona and Terre di Fumane establish a research partnership

One year after Franco Allegrini’s death, Terre di Fumane and the University of Verona’s degree programme in Viticultural and Oenological Sciences presented a partnership to continue and develop research serving Valpolicella growers.

Terre di Fumane was founded in 1996 through Franco’s initiative and Professor Roberto Ferrarini’s appassimento studies, which had begun in the 1980s. Its two drying centres are dedicated respectively to Ferrarini and Franco Allegrini.

The Allegrini–Ferrarini technical-scientific group oversees the relationship. Its participants include Matteo Allegrini, Elisa Ferrarini and oenologists Enrico Nicolis and Gian Maria Ciman. University representatives Diego Begalli, Maurizio Ugliano and Giovanni Battista Tornielli attended the presentation, which concluded with a video message from Slow Food founder Carlo Petrini.
