Biodiversity according to Attems

Biodiversity is presented as a rich variety of plants, insects and animals whose interactions create a stronger, more self-defending ecosystem. The estate’s vineyards are bordered by woods and hedges and form part of a broader environment containing rivers, lakes and fields.

In autumn, mustard, phacelia, Italian clover and tall fescue are sown as green manure. They establish before winter and flower in spring, attracting bees and other insects. Once flowering is complete, the vegetation is incorporated into the ground to make the soil softer and better drained. The traditional practice remains part of the estate’s daily work and sustainability approach.
