Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Grigio vineyards occupy terraced slopes west of Gorizia, at elevations of 50–130 m, with southern and southeastern exposures. The sandstone soil was formed when the seabed rose in the Collio area 50 million years ago. The vines average 15 years of age and are planted at densities of up to 6,250 vines per hectare.
Tasting profile
The wine has a distinctive pinkish-gold, copper hue. Its intense fruity aroma leads to caramel and fruit flavours, with mineral character and light tannins.
Label / history
“Cupra Ramato” is a traditional Venetian term referring to the wine’s copper colour, which comes from the pinkish-gold skins of Pinot Grigio.
