NEWS: Orygini — Born from Fire, Aged by Water

The collaboration with the Sicilian venture Orygini explored deep-water maturation using patented techniques and experimental protocols. Very small quantities of an Etna Bianco Superiore and an Etna Rosso were placed 48 m below sea level in the Cyclops Island Marine Protected Area, where they experienced constant cool temperatures, darkness, gentle movement and water pressure. After months underwater, the bottles matured for two additional years on land.

Each limited-edition bottle retained visible traces of underwater aging and received a handcrafted brass seal made by the Napoli brothers, custodians of the Sicilian puppet-theatre tradition. WSET educator Enrico Donati later tasted the bottles with Salvino Benanti to examine their evolution. The collection was offered to Benanti Club members.
