100 points for Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Bertani 2015
The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico received 100 points. It represented more than 3,000 days of work and waiting and was identified as the first Bertani harvest to show a pronounced effect from climate change on grape composition and the duration of messa a riposo.
Corvina Veronese and Rondinella rested for 78 days in a traditional drying room without forced temperature or humidity control. The wine then matured for seven years in 50–100 hL Slavonian-oak barrels and approximately one year in bottle. Nick Jackson MW placed the vintage within the estate's historic Amarone collection, while Chief Winemaker Pietro Riccobono emphasized origin, tradition and patience.
