Brunella – A centuries-old name in constant evolution

Cascina Brunella stands at the western end of the Villero ridge in Castiglione Falletto. In 2006, the historic property was expanded with a contemporary winery intended to combine modern production needs with respect for the surrounding landscape.

Brunella is both the name of the cascina and a Barolo MGA whose vineyards surround it. The hill is considered a natural continuation of Villero. Its favorable exposure and predominantly clay-limestone soil had supported a local reputation for centuries, with evidence of vinification reaching back to the 1600s.

The Boroli family holds Brunella as a monopole. Barolo Brunella 2013 became the first Barolo labeled with the cru name. Its 2017 debut included a Bordeaux presentation on 18 June, followed by an eight-stop international tour and a return to Italy for a Milan event on 29 September.
