About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Costa Bruna lies within Tenuta Roncaglia in Barbaresco. The Colla family discovered the vineyard after purchasing the Roncaglie cru: 2 ha of Barbera growing on the marly soils of the Langhe. Available evidence establishes that the oldest vines are at least 90 years old, although they may predate the surviving records. The vineyard contains plantings from 1930, 1995 and 2005.
Grapes
100% Barbera.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and crushed. Maceration takes place on the skins for 10–12 days, with a maximum temperature of 28–30 °C. Full malolactic fermentation is completed before winter.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels for approximately one year.

Label / history
The Colla family encountered Costa Bruna almost by chance when it acquired the Roncaglie cru in Barbaresco, discovering an old Barbera vineyard within the property. Costa Bruna is described as the “lady of Roncaglie.”
