About this wine

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

The bunches were selected by hand before destemming, followed by optical sorting of the individual berries. Spontaneous fermentation proceeded without added yeast in temperature-controlled, truncated-cone stainless-steel vats. Maceration was supported by frequent punch-downs, with the process lasting 23 days.

Technical data

The 2021 wine has 14.5% alcohol, total acidity of 5.8 g/L and dry extract of 29.3 g/L. Production comprised 1,125 lots. Recommended serving temperature is 16–17°C.

Tasting profile

Dark, bright red. The bouquet combines small woodland berries with bay leaf, sage and juniper berry. The palate is notably juicy while retaining elegance and poise. It is structured and very persistent, with expressive tannins and a linear finish that emphasizes intensity and spice.

Vintage notes

The 2021 winter was mild, with average rainfall. Budbreak occurred between the last week of March and the first week of April. A return of cold weather during spring slowed vegetative development, but warm, dry conditions in May and June allowed the vines to recover the initial delay. Ripening then continued regularly, and harvesting began in the second week of September.

Label / history

Casanova di Neri has produced its Brunello Etichetta Bianca since 1978. Its style joins the varietal character of Sangiovese with the qualities of the estate’s vineyards, emphasizing finesse, elegance and long ageing potential.
