About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vineyards lie on the north-east-facing slope of Montalcino Hill at 300 m above sea level. The medium-textured soils are rich in clay and marine fossils, with alberese limestone marl in the higher areas. Older vines are trained to spur cordon and newer parcels to Guyot. Organic vineyard management includes mating disruption against grapevine moth, organic humus, cover crops and green manure. Each parcel is harvested, vinified and matured separately.

Grapes

The 2021 wine is 100% Sangiovese. Harvest took place in the last week of September, with manual picking into small crates.

Vinification

All fruit receives overnight cold maceration at 5°C. Alcoholic fermentation lasts 15 days in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled 26°C, with frequent pump-overs, followed by 50 days of skin maceration.

Ageing

Maturation lasts 36 months in 35 hl Slavonian and French oak casks. The wine then receives at least 12 months of bottle ageing.

Technical data

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Alcohol: 14.5%.

Tasting profile

Bright, lively garnet red. The intense, persistent aroma combines ripe sour cherry and wild berries with spices and balsamic nuances. The palate is harmonious and elegant yet structured and characterful, with dense, balanced tannins that remain non-aggressive.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 17–18°C. Large Burgundy- or Bordeaux-style glasses are recommended to bring out the floral and fruit bouquet.
