About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Burchino estate, owned by the Castellani family, lies in the village of Terricciola and covers 37 hectares. Its vineyards are on hills in the Chianti area. The soils are clay and loose sand containing many tiny shell fragments, a reminder of the nearby sea. The grapes are grown in Tuscany's fertile soils, and the wines express the local terroir particularly well.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted and gently pressed, followed by a long maceration. The wine is made by the traditional Tuscan "governo all'uso toscano" method: fresh grapes are added to wine that has already fermented, starting a second fermentation. This gives extra softness and roundness.
Tasting profile
Soft and round, with notes of fruit jam and dried fruit. The wine is semi-dry, with an impressive aroma and flavour profile.
