About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Burchino estate, owned by the Castellani family, lies in the village of Terricciola and covers 37 hectares. Its vineyards are on the hills of the Chianti area. The soils are clay and loose sand containing many small seashells, a reminder of the nearby sea.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place on the skins in stainless steel tanks for 10–15 days, to draw out as much aroma and tannin as possible. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in cement tanks.
Ageing
The wine ages for 6 months in cement tanks. It is bottled without prior clarification or filtration.
Tasting profile
The wine shows appealing aromas and flavours and reflects the local terroir particularly well.
