Amarone Classico Cesari 2021: 50 Vintages of a Contemporary Soul

Franco Cesari moved beyond the popular Bardolino market to champion Valpolicella, producing the first Cesari Amarone in 1971 under the Recioto della Valpolicella DOC Amarone designation. One hundred cases reached New York in 1973, followed by expansion into Venezuela and the British market during the 1980s. The range developed a recognizable S-neck and frosted-bottle design while maintaining a stylistic goal of elegance, silkiness and longevity. The 2021 release marked the fiftieth vintage under current winemaker Michele Gamba.
