Cabras conference examines 30 years of Karmis

The conference gathered about 150 people at the historic Cabras winery. Alessandro and Mauro Contini recalled the decision to unite Vernaccia and Vermentino in 1996, while Piero Cella discussed oxygen management and the technical evolution that made a fresh Vernaccia interpretation possible.

Anna Depalmas presented discoveries made at Sa Osa from 2008–2009 onward: wells containing grape seeds dated to 1300–1700 BC, including wild and domesticated grapes. Comparative research found connections with surviving Sardinian varieties and grapes from the Balkans and Caucasus.

Further discussions covered generational changes in wine consumption, brand positioning and experiential engagement. The anniversary programme included a redesigned capsule, a 2,000-bottle magnum edition, distribution promotions and advertising in Sardinian airports.
