Cottanera at Vinitaly with the new Etna DOC Rosso 100% Nerello Mascalese
Cottanera returned to Vinitaly with new vintages across its ten-label range and introduced Etna DOC Rosso Cottanera as the successor to Barbazzale. The first vintage, 2022, was produced entirely from hand-picked Nerello Mascalese grown on volcanic, alluvial and clay soils. It received six months of bottle refinement, and 90,000 bottles were made.
Francesco Cambria, coordinator of the estate’s winemaking activities, presented Vinitaly as an opportunity to introduce the releases to Italian and international audiences and to develop markets in which the winery was not yet represented. At that point the portfolio comprised five reds, two whites, one rosé and two sparkling wines. Work was also continuing on Dimora Cottanera, created through the restoration of former hazelnut warehouses and the family villa as a hospitality base within the vineyards.
