Living Cottanera: Cottanera and its districts

Cottanera, Calderara and Feudo di Mezzo are first of all the names of the districts cultivated by the estate. A dedicated route introduces their different soils, vineyards and landscapes on foot or by jeep, led by Patrizia or Giulia. Around 700 metres above sea level, the route contrasts the warmth of the Sicilian sun with the freshness of the high volcanic terrain.

The experience continues in the cellar, focusing on barrel maturation, bottle refinement, different barrel types and the technique of roumiage. Five wines are then paired with old family recipes prepared by Carmela, whose cooking preserves knowledge transmitted across generations. The three-hour programme is designed to connect the distinctions among the contrade with the foods and wines produced there.
