Living Cottanera: Etna and Its Pyramids

Pointed piles of lava stone rise among the estate’s vines and form part of Mount Etna’s agricultural history. Local farmers created these pyramidal structures while clearing stones from the land, carefully accumulating the volcanic material rather than removing it from the landscape.

The dedicated experience leads guests through the Iannazzo vineyard in Contrada Feudo di Mezzo to examine the pyramids and learn about their relationship to Etna’s history. The three-hour programme concludes with a five-wine tasting covering Etna DOC red, white and rosé styles together with the Calderara white and Feudo di Mezzo red contrada selections.
