Chianti Classico expresses the intensity and freshness of the Castello dei Rampolla territory at Santa Lucia in Faulle, Panzano in Chianti.
Grapes
Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The proportions of the two international varieties vary by vintage; no current exact percentages are provided.
Vinification
The wine spends eight months in concrete tanks.
Ageing
It is then aged for 12 months in 12-hL oak barrels with either no toast or medium toast, followed by six months in bottle.

Average production ranges from 25,000 to 40,000 bottles.

The austere elegance of Sangiovese is complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The style combines freshness with intensity: fruity, full-bodied and balanced, with good acidity and a lingering finish.
Label / history
The 1975 vintage produced the estate’s first bottled wine, a Chianti Classico bearing the Castello dei Rampolla name. Alceo di Napoli Rampolla subsequently planted Cabernet Sauvignon and blended it with Sangiovese with the assistance of Giacomo Tachis.
