About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The selected fruit comes from the Mello vineyard in Gaiole in Chianti, at an altitude of 700 metres. The vineyard is farmed with an emphasis on organic and biodynamic principles.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at peak ripeness and partially destemmed, with 20% fermented as whole bunches. Fermentation takes place in open concrete vats, followed by four months of maceration.
Ageing
The wine rests for 12 months in the same concrete vessels used for fermentation.

Label / history
“Il Guercio” means “the one-eyed man” in Italian. The name reflects the winemakers’ interpretation of looking at life through different eyes: with one eye open and the other closed in pleasure.
