About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Tenuta di Monterufoli at Monteverdi Marittimo in the inland Maremma. The landscape is formed by gentle hills, with silty-clay soils containing a substantial proportion of limestone. The wine was conceived to express the mineral character associated with these soils while combining aromatic definition and freshness.
Grapes
Vermentino.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand during the first ten days of September. A light skin maceration lasting a few hours takes place without oxygen, followed by gentle pressing. The resulting must undergoes cold static settling for 48 hours before alcoholic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at 15°C.
Ageing
After alcoholic fermentation, the wine remains in stainless steel for approximately three months.
Tasting profile
The nose combines finely drawn fruit and floral notes with mineral nuances. The palate is soft and broad, finishing with freshness and a savoury quality.
Serving and pairing
Serve at around 10°C. Suitable as an aperitif and with fish dishes or medium-aged cheeses.
Label / history
Pian di Seta was developed as an elegant, aromatic and distinctly mineral expression of Vermentino from Monterufoli, shaped by the estate’s inland Maremma setting and limestone-bearing soils.
