About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from Tenuta di Monterufoli at Monteverdi Marittimo in the province of Pisa. It was created to represent the historic territory of Val di Cornia and its capacity to produce structured, aromatic wines with substantial ageing potential.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand into crates. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature not exceeding 26°C, with daily pump-overs and délestage. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine undergoes several further days of post-fermentation maceration at 32°C. After separation from the skins, it remains in stainless steel until the end of winter.

Ageing

The wine is transferred to oak for approximately one year and subsequently completes a long maturation in bottle.

Tasting profile

The colour is an intense ruby red. Aromas of ripe red fruit are joined by spice and balsamic notes. The palate is full and rounded, with substantial structure and length, balanced tannins and a savoury finish.

Label / history

Poggio Miniera was conceived as an ambitious expression of 100% Sangiovese from Val di Cornia, emphasizing the territory’s aromatic range and capacity for extended ageing.
