Domìni Veneti creates Fratefoco with Il Vittoriale
Fondazione Il Vittoriale degli Italiani and Domìni Veneti developed Fratefoco, a limited-edition Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore, to present Gabriele d’Annunzio from an unconventional angle during the 160th anniversary of his birth.
Fratefoco was one of the pseudonyms d’Annunzio used when writing to friends and lovers. Creative director Michele Battistoni and the Vittoriale archives researched the surviving documents, turning the poet’s taste for pseudonyms and literary disguises into the project’s narrative.
The wine was made by refermenting fresh Valpolicella with Recioto marc. It was released through Domìni Veneti wine shops in Sirmione, Cavaion Veronese and Negrar di Valpolicella, as well as selected restaurants, wine shops and historic food stores along the Brescia side of Lake Garda.
