About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from a 35-year-old vineyard with a sunny south-western exposure, which encourages even ripening. The vines grow in well-drained clay-limestone soil and are trained to cordon with short pruning. Planting density is 5,000 vines per hectare, allowing careful control of grape quantity and quality.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at optimal ripeness, usually in September. Fermentation takes place in wooden barrels and stainless-steel vats under controlled temperatures, followed by malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

The wine matures for at least 24 months in new barriques and then for at least 12 months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Rich, with subtle mineral notes.

Label / history

The label bears the words “La lotta esiste, perche esiste il lottatore.” (“The struggle exists because the fighter exists.”). Fossi names each of his wines and creates an individual label featuring a saying, quotation or aphorism intended to reflect its story and character.
