Alessandro Barabesi named Winemaker of the Year

Alessandro Barabesi received the VinialSuper guide’s Winemaker of the Year distinction after three years at Geografico. Having joined the Piccini technical team in 2018, he initially concentrated on Contessa di Radda, combining fidelity to tradition with technical changes in vineyard and cellar. He later applied microvinification and non-invasive practices to I Terzieri and developed La Pevera as a new Super Tuscan expression.

Born in Bagno a Ripoli in 1987, Barabesi spent summers working in vineyards before gaining experience in Italy and Australia. In McLaren Vale he worked alongside Stephen Pannell; from 2015 to 2018 he was at Frescobaldi before joining Piccini 1882 and assuming technical responsibility for Geografico.
