About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The unirrigated San Lorenzo vineyard lies a few hundred metres from the Sicilian coast, exposed to hot sun and iodine-tinged sea air. It is farmed using biodynamic methods, and its Nero d'Avola vines are more than 40 years old.
Vinification
Harvest begins on 15 September. Fermentation is followed by extended skin maceration and malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine ages in 225 L barrels for at least 24 months, followed by a further two years in bottle. After release, it requires additional time to become fully harmonious.
Tasting profile
Complex, powerful and distinctive, with a layered character. The 2008 vintage is especially elegant and feminine.
