Vigne Basse Acquisition
The acquisition was formally announced on 9 October 2023. Albatreti adjoins Il Palazzone and contributes Galestro soils and southwest-facing land to the estate’s range of elevations and exposures.
The property had been managed by the Bizarri family for three generations. Its 5 hectares of vines were excavated and planted when the grandchildren assumed responsibility, producing their first Rosso di Montalcino in 2008 and first Brunello di Montalcino in 2009. The vineyards included Brunello, Rosso and Sant’Antimo material and expanded Il Palazzone’s vineyard footprint to approximately 10.5 hectares.
The acquisition also comprised 25 hectares of woodland and a substantial stand of olive trees, creating additional capacity for olive-oil production. Kirsten Kern described the transaction as an opportunity to preserve a significant neighbouring vineyard, improve production and blend fruit from contrasting soils, elevations and exposures. She acknowledged the work of the Bizarri family and Gaetano Salvioni in caring for the property.
