About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The 2023 technical sheet places the hillside vineyards in the Monte Vulture area around Venosa, Basilicata, at 400 m above sea level. The vines were planted in 2000 and are trained on an espalier system with Guyot pruning at a density of 4,400 vines per hectare. The loose, dry volcanic soil is predominantly tuffaceous, with the characteristic colour of pozzolanic terrain and a good mineral presence. Yield is 100 quintals per hectare.

Grapes

Aglianico del Vulture vinified as a white wine.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand into crates during the last ten days of September. Whole grapes undergo gentle pressing, with only the first free-run must extracted and no contact with the skins.

Ageing

The wine matures for 4–5 months in French oak barriques and for at least one year in bottle.

Technical data

The selected technical sheet covers the 2023 vintage. Alcohol is 13% vol.

Tasting profile

A very pale, delicate straw yellow. Wild pear, flowers and citrus form the bouquet. The palate is fragrant and fresh, with good body, a mineral character and a persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 8–10°C. Pair with cod, fish-based first and main courses, white meats, legumes or fresh cheeses.
