About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow in northeastern Italy, near the borders with Austria and Slovenia and close to the northernmost part of the Adriatic Sea. The soils along the Isonzo River are rich and fertile. The microclimate alternates warm Adriatic breezes with cool Alpine winds. This natural air-conditioning gives Friulian white wines freshness and complex character, and helps the grapes ripen slowly and evenly.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at 22 °C. They are destemmed and crushed as soon as they reach the winery. Cold maceration at 5–6 °C is followed by gentle pressing. The must settles overnight in a cool room. A selected yeast strain is then added, and fermentation lasts 20 days at 15 °C.
Ageing
After fermentation the wine rests on its lees in stainless steel tanks for 3–4 months.
