About this wine
Vinification
Madoro is made by the appassimento method. After harvest, the ripe bunches are partially dried, either laid out in a single layer on mats or hung up. The drying usually takes place under a roof, though sometimes in the sun or indoors.
Ageing
After fermentation the wine ages for 5 months in new French oak barrels, followed by 3–6 months in bottle.
Label / history
The name is short for MAculan DOlce ROsso, meaning Maculan's sweet red wine.
