About this wine
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed as whole berries, with the juice separated into fractions. Pinot Nero undergoes about six hours of skin maceration before being blended with Chardonnay. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks with selected yeasts. The temperature is gradually reduced to 10 °C to prevent malolactic fermentation. After the tirage liqueur is added, the wine is bottled and sealed for secondary fermentation.
Ageing
The wine ages for around 36 months after secondary fermentation.
Tasting profile
Generous and well structured.
Serving and pairing
Suitable with aperitif snacks and a wide range of meat and fish dishes.
Label / history
Artio takes its name from a Celtic goddess believed to be the patron of hunting and accompanied by a bear. Loris Biatta, an admirer of Celtic mythology, chose the name to represent the two varieties in the blend: Chardonnay, associated with the goddess’s delicacy and femininity, and Pinot Nero, with the strength and fierceness of a wild bear.
