About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Li Veli cultivates these ancient Puglian varieties using traditional methods in terroirs selected for their suitability to each variety.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in the third week of September and transported directly to cool cellars in small crates. They remain there until pressing to preserve their natural character. The pressed grapes undergo cold skin maceration, intended to extract their fresh aromas, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at no more than 16 °C.
Ageing
After fermentation, the wine is held at 10 °C to prevent malolactic fermentation.
Label / history
The 2013 wine belongs to a new range devoted to ancient Puglian grape varieties that have become almost impossible to find in the region’s vineyards. The name “Askos” pays tribute to the centuries-old winemaking traditions of ancient Greek culture. In 2014, the 2013 vintage received a bronze medal at the International Wine Challenge.
