Meleto’s wine history is traced to Benedictine monks in the 11th century, while its name first appears in writing in 1256. Its modern history began with Gianni Mazzocchi’s Operazione Vigneti in 1968. Readers of Quattrosoldi purchased shares in a property at risk of abandonment, creating Viticola Toscana, later renamed Castello di Meleto Società Agricola.
