About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow in clay-limestone soils.
Grapes
Barbera accounts for up to 90% of the blend, with Merlot making up the remainder.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in September and October. Fermentation is long, with 40 days of skin maceration.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in barrels made from French oak from Allier, followed by 24 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Elegant, fresh, balanced and structured, with power and depth. Barbera contributes rich red-fruit notes and freshness, while Merlot adds firm, dense tannins.
Label / history
First made in 1992, Nabucco takes its name from Verdi’s opera of the same name, which premiered at La Scala in Milan in 1842.
