About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Montevertine’s historic vineyards in Radda in Chianti, planted between 1968 and 1999. Le Pergole Torte was first produced in 1977 and was the first varietal Sangiovese vinified in the Radda in Chianti area.
The general wine yield is 40 hl/ha. For the 2020 vintage, it was 35 hl/ha.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in concrete vats. The general specification gives a duration of approximately 25 days, while the 2020 technical sheet records 20 days. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in concrete vats.
The 2020 harvest began on 26 September.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in Allier barriques and then for 12 months in Slavonian oak casks, followed by approximately three months in bottle.
