Winter wines

Paitin determines release dates by tasting and prefers to give its wines substantial bottle rest before shipment. Winter normally brings wines bottled during the preceding winter or summer; the traditional cellar approach requires at least one summer in bottle so that complexity can emerge.

The release comprised Rivoli Dolcetto d’Alba 2019, Campolive Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2017, Starda Langhe Nebbiolo 2019, Ca Veja Nebbiolo d’Alba 2017, Serraboella Barbaresco 2017, Sorì Paitin Serraboella Barbaresco 2017 and Vecchie Vigne Sorì Paitin Barbaresco Riserva 2015. The article also singled out Sorì Paitin Serraboella Barbaresco 2016 and Bonina Langhe Freisa 2018 as the two wines most warmly received during the difficult year. The Freisa marked the variety’s return after fifty years and was associated with Piedmontese identity, local varieties and the continuity of tradition.
