Poggio Antico Journal – Ep. 11: Asian Markets

Riccardo Bogi describes Asia as a collection of distinct markets rather than a single commercial region. Japan is the estate’s most important Asian market because of its continuity, knowledgeable consumers, culinary culture and shared emphasis on raw materials, detail and craftsmanship. South Korea is showing growing interest in premium Italian wine. China remains strategically important despite a recent slowdown, while India has long-term potential as younger consumers explore wine beyond high-proof spirits. Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia are also developing premium-wine cultures. Across these markets, the work depends on education about Italy, Tuscany, Sangiovese and Montalcino, thoughtful food pairing and partners with genuine product knowledge and a long-term outlook. Poggio Antico’s objective is to adapt communication to each culture while preserving its identity.
