The Poggio Antico Journal – Ep. 2: New Beginnings

After winter pruning and tying, swelling buds marked the beginning of the 2025 cycle. February was the wettest in six years, delaying under-vine work while maintenance and new-planting preparations continued. Madre’s soil was ready, but planting awaited a suitable weather window. In the cellar, weekly topping, safety checks and tastings continued. The 2022 Vigna I Poggi and Brunello were developing in concrete, while Riserva remained in 25-hl French oak casks. The episode presents wine as a continuously changing material requiring regular observation rather than a fixed process.
