The Poggio Antico Journal – Ep. 9: Time to Think
Twenty-six rainy days across January and February left vineyard operations about a month behind the usual schedule, although pruning, cellar tasting, travel and fair preparations continued. The slower period provided time to reassess priorities. One result was the Palio Edition project, commemorating the 16 August 2025 victory of Anda e Bola, jointly owned by Marcel van Poecke and Harry Westerman. The horse visited Poggio Antico in September, and a limited Brunello di Montalcino 2021 label was prepared for Wine Club members and estate visitors. A full-day collaboration with Scuderia Milani combines the horse’s stable, lunch and a Poggio Antico tour and tasting. Pier Giuseppe D'Alessandro connects the project to local tradition and argues that the estate’s future depends on simplicity and an uncompromised sense of identity.
