About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Sangiovese comes from estate vineyards at elevations of 200–400 m, where the vines average 20–25 years of age. The higher sites have stony soils rich in iron-bearing minerals and organic matter. White and grey clays, galestro and silty portions characterize the lower vineyards.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

Vinification takes place in truncated-conical wooden vats and concrete vats and lasts for at least one month. Long, frequent pump-overs with exposure to air continue throughout maceration, promoting even yet intensive extraction of aroma, structure and tannins.

Ageing

The wine matures for 36 months in 30 hl Slavonian oak casks. The 2021 wine was bottled in April 2025.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14%.

Tasting profile

The broader house profile combines silky tannins and a vertical palate with a persistent, intriguing finish. Red fruit and small black-fruit aromas meet violet, sweet violet and citrus nuances, developing tobacco, coffee, cocoa and leather tones through extended wood maturation.

The 2021 is structured, with a substantial tannic framework supported by pronounced acidity. Fruit and floral aromas carry a citrus undertone. The palate is rich and deep, with balsamic and ferrous notes.

Vintage notes

The 2021 growing season alternated between spring frost, intense summer heat and above-average rain in the latter part of August. The rain enabled the grapes to reach full maturity without water or heat stress. Harvest ran from 10 September to 4 October, following the estate's customary timing for Sangiovese.
