About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards occupy the slopes of Faedo at 300–700 metres above sea level, with southern and southwestern exposures. They are ventilated by the “Ora” breeze from Lake Garda. Faedo lies between ancient acidic formations of Permian porphyry and a broad platform of sandstone, siltstone, loam, limestone and dolomite. At depths of 30–100 centimetres, calcareous silty layers alternate with sedimentary marl.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, followed by a brief rest in steel.
Ageing
The wine matures for six months in French oak barrels.
Tasting profile
Elegant.
Label / history
Pojer e Sandri was founded in 1975, when the young Florentino Sandri inherited vineyards in the mountain village of Faed and his winemaker friend Mario Pojer graduated from the San Michele Agricultural Institute. Their first wine, released that year, was Muller Thurgau “Pala”. The winery’s classically styled labels feature engravings by Albrecht Dürer.
