A Standout Across Challenging Vintages
The report followed the acclaimed 2021 harvest with two difficult growing seasons. Extreme heat and drought marked 2022, followed by a violent August storm, while persistent spring rain and downy mildew sharply reduced crops in 2023. Querciabella’s site-specific vineyard management, high-altitude holdings in Greve, Radda and Lamole and coordinated team were credited with maintaining precision and purity.
Galloni also recognised the leadership of Mita, Andrea and Selene Castiglioni with CEO Roberto Lasorte. Mongrana 2023 received 90/100 and marked recognition of its expanded nine-variety blend and introduction of whole-cluster fermentation. Current releases reviewed included Riserva 2021, Querciabella 2022, Batàr 2022, Camartina 2021 and Turpino 2021. The forthcoming 2021 single-origin Gran Selezione wines received 98/100 for Radda, 97/100 for Greve and 94+/100 for Lamole.
