Gran Selezione in the Spotlight

Sarah Heller MW’s 2024 Chianti Classico report considered the growing importance of place, the UGA framework and the maturation of the Gran Selezione category. Querciabella’s Gran Selezione 2019 received 98/100, with its Ruffoli origin and sandstone-derived soils central to the assessment. The 2018 and 2017 vintages received 95/100 and 96/100 respectively.

The report also reviewed Riserva 2020 at 94/100 and Querciabella 2021 at 94/100. The coverage connected these results with the estate’s work to isolate individual sites, its separate vinification of component vineyards and more than fifteen years of attention to single-village expressions.
