Viticulture requires continuous observation of soil, weather and the vine’s natural cycle. Recent seasons have brought extremes ranging from drought and low rainfall to prolonged cold during normally mild periods.
Thermal inversion and frost protection
After sunset, heat retained by the ground warms nearby air, which rises and leaves a much colder layer at ground level. This low-lying air can fall below freezing and threaten new vegetative growth.
Roagna uses infrared-wire technology that converts radiant energy into heat when it reaches the vines, reducing heat loss. Wind machines operate in Pajé and Pira, bringing warmer air from above toward ground level and forming a protective layer that mitigates frost damage.
