About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Obvius Rosso comes from the 2-hectare Greppo vineyard at Abbadia di Montepulciano. The fruit is selected from vines trained en gobelet.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

The wine is conceived as an “all-fruit” expression and is fermented in stainless steel. It is made using grapes alone, without added sulfites, selected yeasts, tannins or other additives. The approach is intended to preserve precise aromas while maintaining redox and volatile stability and dependable development over time.

Ageing

Maturation lasts 4 months in stainless steel, followed by 6 months of refinement in bottle.

Technical data

The 2024 wine has 13.5% alcohol, pH 3.61, total acidity 5.33, residual sugar 0.36 and dry extract 29.21. Its phenol measurement is 3,760, color tonality 0.71 and color intensity 8.11. Production is 8,000 bottles.

It is bottled in a 750 ml standard Bourgogne bottle weighing 395 g and closed with a screwcap.

Tasting profile

The 2024 vintage is less full-bodied than usual, with freshness and balance defining its profile. The wine’s broader stylistic aim is a youthful, fruit-focused expression with precise aromas and stability over time.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18–20 °C. Expected drinking life is 5–7 years.

Vintage notes

Prolonged extreme summer heat in 2024 caused the vines to restrict fruit ripening. The resulting wines were lighter in body than usual while retaining freshness and balance.

The selected 2022 technical sheet describes a season of extreme heat and drought, moderated by an almost ideal close to the growing season. That vintage remained fresh while showing an intense, robust profile. Its analytical values were 13.5% alcohol, pH 3.70, total acidity 4.84, residual sugar 1.15 and dry extract 30.55.
