About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from 135-year-old vines in one of the highest parts of Pantelleria. The terraced vineyards have volcanic sand soils and are farmed organically and biodynamically.
Grapes
Zibibbo is the Sicilian name for Muscat of Alexandria, from the Arabic word for “raisin.”
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed. Fermentation lasts 20 days in open, 300 L Spanish terracotta amphorae that are 400 years old and buried in volcanic tuff.
Ageing
The wine remains with the skins in the same amphorae for seven months. It is bottled without added sulfur or filtration, followed by a further two to three months of bottle maturation.
Tasting profile
The aroma is rich and inviting, while the palate is complex.
