Pierluigi Talenti, The Other Brunello

Andrea Gabbrielli’s illustrated historical study follows Piero Talenti from his upbringing and agricultural training in Romagna through wartime partisan service, his arrival in Sant’Angelo in Colle, management of Il Poggione and creation of Pian di Conte. It records his Sangiovese selection work, involvement in the Brunello Consortium, development of the family estate and the eventual transition to Roberto and Riccardo Talenti. Personal recollections from family members, colleagues and wine professionals place his career within the wider transformation of Montalcino from sharecropping and mixed agriculture toward specialized quality wine production.
