About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the Casal di Sopra vineyard in Marcellise, at 230 metres above sea level. The vineyard has limestone soils and is surrounded by woodland, olive trees and orchards.
Vinification
Spontaneous fermentation takes place in concrete vats. The inaugural 2011 vintage was fermented in the winery’s new cellar. Concrete vats are no longer used in Valpolicella, and this was the winery’s first and only wine to be both fermented and aged in them.
Ageing
The wine matures in concrete vats for 18 months, followed by 18 months in bottle in the winery’s cellars.
Label / history
First made in 2011, the wine grew out of a new vision for the Casal di Sopra vineyard.
