About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the single-vineyard Rompicollo site in Pitigliano. The vineyard faces south and has mineral-rich volcanic soils dominated by tuff. Planting density is 6,500 vines per hectare.
Vinification
Fermentation lasts 10 days in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
Label / history
Tommasi Viticoltori was founded in 1902, when Giacomo Tommasi bought his first vineyard. The company acquired the Poggio al Tufo winery in 1997; the property then comprised 66 ha of vineyards in Pitigliano, Grosseto.
